Default Ds650 wont stay running.

ok, i went out riding the other day and after about 20 mins of riding, i was just sitting there idling and the engine just quit. So i went to start it and there was nothing. Battery dead. Luckely my buddy had a set of jumper cables and jumped it for me in which it ran for about 30 second and then died again. Long tow back home. Now ive done some research, and obviosly the batter is dead and in turn the motor wont run. My question is.. where do i start with figuring out what is the problem? do i buy a new battery and go from there? the existing batt is old and could very well just be shot. does that sound legitiment? if the battery is shot will it just not take a charge? Thanks, Dave

First check the fuses that are under the seat (behind the airbox). I've blown one and had corroded contacts a few times which will make it seem like a dead battery.

I don't really know about these bikes too much, as I am a reformed banshee rider. I do know that my battery is shot on my bike and if i can get it fired it will normally run keep running as long as I don't crank it to much. But my advise would be to get another battery anyway, and start from there.

I have an Interstate battery in my DS and it's been bulletproof. I'm not sure the exact price on it but I pretty sure it's well under $100.

ok i did some online research and even on interstates website they list the battery for the ds at 103-130ish. The cheapest battery was from here...<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.mudmanatv.com/1090190009-5.html

</a>
which is still a bit more than i want to pay.
