About to do a top-end rebuild...any advice?
#1
I recently purchased a couple of 110s and am going to be getting them running.
One of them runs, but smokes really badly. So....I bought a top-end kit off of ebay and it will hopefully get here around the same time as the clymer manual I bought off of amazon.
So, I'll have instructions, but was wondering if there was any advice or tips that any of you could give me before I dig into the project. Thanks,
RJ

I do have a torque wrench.
Anything else that I'll need? I'm hoping to have everything by this weekend to do it, but it might have to be next week/weekend.

I suspect it probably is...but how would I know for sure? I guess when I open it up, I'll be able to see the rubber on the O-rings...but what about the valve guides? The reason I say it probably is is because the thing burns oil like a smoker and wants to cut out after about 30 seconds or so. Then it will start right back up again and go for about 30 seconds. Also, I've got the air intake stuffed so that it will produce enough vacuum to suck the fuel into the combustion chamber. I will say, the spark plug looks normal and doesn't come out looking black.
Also, per the valve guides on dratv, you have to have a valve guide reamer. What is that and is it necessary?
Do you think the local auto parts store will have a generic O-ring that will work, or do I need to order specific from an ATV place.
Appreciate the help 3wheelersforlife.

It you need to do the valves and guides you will be better off buying a Vesra complete gasket kit. This will have all the parts you will need at a small cost. The valve guides can be hard to get out,They are pressed in.You can get them out if you are injunuitive...spelling.You can also take the spring keepers out of valve spring if you up to it.You will need a magnet for this and a 10mm open end wrench.Make shure you drink an AMP energy drink.lol
