Default missing sight glass on an 05 Phoenix

Hey everyone, I am new here and have a question I just cant seem to figure out. The wife was out on her 05 Polaris Phoenix and noticed a "strange noise". Come to find out the sight glass for the crankcase oil had fallen out (along with all the oil, solves the strange noise).
So I go to the Polaris dealer and he tells me that part is not an individual piece and I have to order a complete crankcase cover (approx. 400 for the cover and gaskets)
Does anyone out there have any ideas on this, I have debated welding the small slit shut, but then I cannot figure out how to keep up with the crankcase oil.

Only know the answer from a dealer perspective! We have sight glasses available for KTM and Husky, but not for Phoenix. Other members may be better help. Good luck pS just looked and sight glass retainer #0452637, glass # 0452333 Ididnt look before I leaped,SORRY Doesnt show actual glass on 05,but shows on 06 model parts break down,DONT know if there is a difference,BUT shoudn't be!
