Next on the ongoing problem with my meerkat 50. Found out that the CDI was bad. Bought a new one and replaced it. Now it still won't start! I'm getting spark but when I test the wire from the magneto to the CDI it shows 26 - 37 vac. According to my diagram I got from Raceway, it is supposed to be 40 - 60 vac. I'm getting spark and the plug is wet with fuel but it still won't start?

How's the compression? Have you tried starter fluid? Is the spark strong enough to see it jump?

 

I've tried starting fluid. I've taken apart the carburator and cleaned it and the jets 3 times. I've adjusted the valves 5 times. I've replaced the CDI. I've completely taken out and tested every connection on the wiring harness. I've replaced the intake tube. I've replaced the spark plug with a NGK. I've taken out the spark plug and tried to start it and I can see spark jumping. When I put my finger over the plug hole and try to turn it over the compression feels ok, I don't have a tester other than that. This has been going on for a year now! I bought it from Raceway last summer and my son has rode it a total of 8 times, maybe, since then!! I just want to fix it so I can sell it since he has already out grown it.

 

Have any TNT? Wow not sure where to steer ya looks like you tried it all! But if you are 100% sure you have a nice spark, you have compression, have a fuel source it can only be air flow or timing of the spark. Not sure how low compression can be before it will throw the piston down but if nothing you should have a tab bit of fire unless the valves are way off in adjustment? Ever try removing the exhaust pipe then seeing if you get any fire or compression leaving the head? Try push or pull starting it? Just thinking out loud!

 

when if ever is the last time you adjusted the valves? if you have ignition and fuel flow, then my guess would be tight valves. need instuctions e-mail me luvmysxs@yahoo.com

 

Thanks Range Rover, took cover found the timing mark covered with alittle rust. Ill trying get it started this weekend. On the carb which screw is gas and which is air?
