ok i have an 85 lt250r and it was rattling from the side case with the magneto under it, i pulled the case off and the stator plate ended up being loose, i tightened it down and now it wont fire at all, it ran great with the stator plate loose and flopping around, the back side of the magneto was kinda tore up by the loose bolts, but if it sparked being loose i figure it would spark when properly installed, i have been told its the magneto, but the magneto wouldnt go out just by pulling it off, because it fired before it was pulled off, i checked all the wires, new coil and stators, nothing is grounding out. thanx for any help

Check the key for the flywheel and the stator may be bad. All it takes is a few busted strands of wire.

 

the keyway is fine and the stator is new, still have no idea what it would be
