port and polish for ds650 baja
#1
Hey guys one of the shops around here that has a dyno and specializes in high performance says that porting and polishing will open my beast up quite a bit, however another shop that does my routine maintenance says it will not really help out that much. I would appreciate any advice from those who have done it or know about it.
Thanks

Wasn't trying to be smart, but I have not recieved a pm from anyone so if you have info I would like to hear from you. I am not wanting to go to the big bore kit but want more power. As it has been stated many times once you start hard to stop....

Your guy was sort of right, the benefits of spending the money on porting really will not start to show without the combination of higher lift cams, Larger valves, higher compression piston, larger carburetor.
Its sort of a recipe for performance every thing works together to produce the end result.
if your looking at doing these things down the road, I wouldn't spend my money until you have the other items.
Last thing port jobs can run you from 300 to 2000 depending who you go through for whistles and bells, a good head porter will port to your motor build and you type of riding, word of note only trust persons that port that have been doing it at least 10 years and have a good rep, trust me there are deals out there, but also unfortunately on porting you do pay for what you get.
