hello all,

i own 2005 kodiak 450 and seems to start & stall. am thinking of draining the tank and cleaning filters.. ANY IDEAS??? Please send pic's being that i am new to working on the bike..

Go to Yamaha's website and look at the parts diagram. That will give you a good idea of all the parts that make up your machine.

 

thanks,,, but do u have any idea why the bike starts & runs fine until its time to idle?? could it be bad gas? the bike is not uses often at all.

Run the Fuel out of the carb by running the quad with fuel valve in off position. Drain the tank, and put fresh fuel in. I would also put in some "SeaFoam" fuel treatment. This will help clean out any possible deposits. If you think the carb may have gotten debris in it then clean it out before running with fresh fuel.

I am doing something similar with my 450, I have a severe spit/sputter in the midrange and top end like it is starving for fuel.

 

Ifit only an idle problem it would be your pilot jet,unless you have a fuelly. if those littlte jets plugg theywill noy idle

 

i second the above statements. the carb probably has some crap in there stopping up the idle jets.
