Default 06 rancher TRX350FM cooling fan

I just bought a used 2006 rancher TRX350FM..... since I have had it i have noticed the cooling never kicks on. Does the motor have to get to a certain temp before it kicks on?? I haven't done a lot of hard riding yet, but i have run it pretty good. how can I check to see if it is working if its got a bad motor or something? Also....my rear brake lights doesn't work.... any suggestions on how to fix them. thanks in advance!

PS. I'm taking it hog hunting this weekend.... if the fan is bad, and it never kicks on do you think it will cause me future problems??

It probably works fine they have to be quite hot for the fan to come on but they are easilly tested .. First check the fan fuse in the fuse box ..
Here is how to test the fan..The thermosensor is beside the left footrest just above the floorboard ..

As for the brake lights , there is a coupler for the tail lights/brake lights

This is the coupler & wires

In 10 years, I don't think mine has come on more than half a dozen times.

The fan on my 05 comes on only after extreme slow riding in extremely hot ambient temps.
I have noticed that since I have switched from dino to synthetic oil, it doesn't run as much.
