do I have to put fluid in the trans of my 2008 trx 250ex or does the engine oil lubricate the trans and engine both? thanks.

The transmission will quickly thrash your oil....that is why it is important to run an API SG/JASO MA motorcycle oil. SG insures that it will have a descent high-pressure/anti-wear additive package, and the MA insures that it is wet clutch safe.
