Suzuki Ozark 250
#1
I am looking into getting a 2002 Suzuki Ozark 250 semi-auto. Does anyone know if you can attach a plow to it? This will be my first quad so how easy or hard is the semi-automatic transmission? Also, I am 6 ft, could I fit on this quad? And is it good for some trail riding? Thanks

Smaller size, lighter duty and only 2wd means that this would not be the best plow machine.
It's not really a semi-automatic, it's considered an autoclutch 5-speed. It's a good solid system that can take a lot of abuse. One trait of the Ozark is that the shifting is a little stiff and notchy. It gets a bit better with age and as the engine warms up.
The Ozark is a great trail rider - good power, decent suspension and light weight. A 6' rider will fit, but you'll get a little cramped and will not be able to move around as much as you may need without bumping your knees. I rode ours for about a month when my main bike was in the shop - fun bike to ride but at 6'-2" I'm a little tall to consider it as my regular ride.
All in all it's a great bike, IMO the best of the 250cc utilities but it sounds like you may plan to use it outside of best usage. Something in the 400cc to 500cc range would suit you better.

Thanks for your help. I think since its my first quad, i'll start out with the Ozark. If I like it i'll move up to a bigger quad. Also, I was watching a youtube video about operating a semi-auto quad. Is it the same thing? Thanks

Plows snow just fine. I put 60lbs on the trailer hitch, no chains, and no problems plowing 12 inches of snow. I'm 5 ft 10 in tall , it does me just fine . I bought mine new in 02 with NO problems at all.

Can't wait for the snow to fall now! I got a feeling there's no way an Ozark can push a foot of snow, unless it's real fluffy.

Well I've plowed 12 inches of snow no less than six times a year with no problems. Usely we get wet snow falls to boot.

What's the difference? I've always considered a semi-automatic to be the same as an autoclutch.
What quad is a semi-automatic that is not an autoclutch?

Technically, a semi automatic would be like some of the available shift modes on what you find on Honda automatic transmissions. Semi-automatic is an automatic transmission where you can control what gear range it can be in. Autoclutch is a straight shift - basically the same tranny as what you'd find in a true clutch operated bike, with the exception that clutch duties are handled by the autoclutch.
Ozark?? - It's a 5-speed with reverse. You must run through the gears with the foot shift but by backing off the gas slightly as you shift you engage the autoclutch so there is no clutch lever to fool with. Shift pattern is R-N-1-2-3-4-5. To get to reverse, start in neutral, pull a **** on the bars as you downshift into R.
