Case savers? Do they work?
#2
Doesn't every quad have one on from the factory?? And yes they do a world of good. If you snap a chain and it gets all bound up by the case, you will most likely have a jacked up case and have to replace it. My buddy almost lost his case on his YZ426 and that was with a case saver on.

Never seen a plastic one. It wouldn't hold up.
A case saver is essential equipment, just like skid plates, nerf bars, and a bumper. If you can't afford an aftermarket one, the stock one will do just fine.

Hmmm? Then whats the 400ex and 450r come with?</end quote></div>
They look to be steel. Not very pretty, but if you want bling there are some real fancy aftermarket ones.......

I have a TM Designs case saver on my YFZ 450. It's a hard material, not sure what the compound is, but it's not metal. I have thrown a chain 2 times completely:
1st time - Master link went. Didn't have a case saver on (STUPID!!!) about $2,000 later I had new cases on my motor....
2nd time - Was riding on a bent axle - carrier went, obviously... TM Designs case saver was on my quad this time... Totally did the job. Replaced nothing more then the case saver and my roller.
~~~
3rd situation - carrier went mid moto somehow - looked like a grenade went off inside - axle had about 1.5 inches of play. TOTALY should have thrown a chain hitting jups/cornering. I had added a sprocket guard to the quad. Chain stayed right in place.
I highly recommend a case saver and a sprocket gaurd. I will not ride/race without them...
