Default 2004 Trailblazer Starter Drive

Newbie here!! I am getting ready to change the starter drive on my 04 Trailblazer. Can someone give me the readers digest version on how to do this? I know I have to remove the side cover to get to the drive, but does the flywheel have to come off? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Flywheel has to to come off on 250 engines to replace,on 4-stroke engines can wiggle out starter gear drive.

I was able to remove the cover and then remove the starter bolts. I wiggled the starter out the backside and replaced the drive and reinstalled. Not sure if this is the right way, but it worked and I did not have to mess with the flywheel. Thanks!!
