Thinking of buying a 2009 Big Bear
#1
What do ya'll think about these bikes? It will mainly be used for hunting, putting out feed and mud riding. My dad has a 2000 Big Bear that has been great. No problems and meets our needs well. I was thinking of getting the new one for the IRS and diff lock features. I like that it is a manual transmission and simple in design. I find the Big Bear could use just a tad more power in deep mud holes but tends to spin the tires nicely in second and occasionly will bog down in third(in a good hole). I hear the new bike is great in the mud. Our woods flood towards the end of hunting season so this bike will see some water. I'm thinking of putting a snorkel on it. What brand snorkel is best for this bike? Do i need an exhaust snorkel as well? I'm thinking bayou snorkels? What other bikes should i be considering in the 400-450 class at the 5500 dollar pricepoint? We have always had Yamaha's. Thanks in Advance!

Anybody? I need some help here. I want to buy one soon! Another question: Are there any aftermarket mods that will give the big bear noticablly more power without compromising reliably or wear the motor out sooner? Sorry for all the questions but i just want to get the best bang for the buck! Thanks.

If you like your 2000 BB than you will like the 2009 better.
2000 BB vs 2009 BB specs.
You will have the same machine with better, rear wet sealed disk brakes, rear suspension,Ground Clearance and traction due to diff lock. The 386cc motor and tranny has not changed though so it will still scream out in top gear at 45mph top speed, the ATV really needs a 6th gear I find.
For Pleasure riding the 401cc liquid cooled Grizzly noticeably better at 45-50 cruising due to gearing mostly not more power.
Here is a link to owner reviews of the Big Bear IRS BB owner/rider comments It sure sounds like nobody is disapointed.
I had the 89 350 Big Bear with a zillon miles on it and it never let me down (See Pic).
