Default What do you think about..

What do you think about buying an older atv. Say, early to mid 90's what is the chances of me getting a reliable bike that is not going to break down on me?

I found a bike on kijiji a Kawasaki klf 300. 1993 it is a perfect price 1250 it says it is running and test drives available. The only problem is the ad says there is a slow oil leak. Being as I have never owned an atv I don't know how much an issue that is. The bike looks like it is in decent shape. But I don't know what I'm talking about. I know obviously I'm not buying a trendy bike its old but buying an old one is all I can afford to start this sport. If someone can help me out if be grateful.
I read a few Articles online about buying a used atv. But embarrassing as it is to admit I don't know what much of it means so I have arranged to have the bike taken to a local bike shop for a check up before I buy it. It will cost me 100 dollars to have it looked at. I guess I want to know from this forum if I should waste my hundred dollars on this bike or if I would be better finding another bike.

Here's the link to the atv ad:

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't buy something that old. They probably don't make parts for it anymore.

Its about condition. I have seen 1990 ATVs in mint shape in some old timers garage and I have seen 2008 4x4 that I would not trust to even part out.

When you see them you can tell which ones have been through the ringer or not.

If I could find a low mileage 1989 great condition 350 Big Bear I would buy it because the one I sold to my friend with a zillion hard miles on it is still up and running.

I'd look at something newer. I'd look at something like a Honda Recon or Suzuki Ozark. You can find either of those used in good shape for the price they're asking for that older Kawasaki. A Yamaha Beartracker is another value-friendly atv as well.
