Default 92 Polaris 250 Backfiring

When coming off speed or when going down hill my bike backfires It sounds like a shotgun. It seperates the exhaust where the two pipes come together.. This has been doing this for a couple of years.

Could it be a plugged exhaust?

I think the bike is very loud for a 2 stoke.

What could it be?

Check that throttle slack at thumb lever around 1/8" slack Too much slack can cause loading up and explosion of fuel, blowing off head pipe. This is caused by the ETC switch inside throttle assy. Check all springs also, replace if stretched or worn.
