Default Honda Parts Interchangeability

Trying to repair my '07 Honda 400EX after it was crashed. Wondering if anyone has experience with mixing and matching parts. For example:

1. Will shocks from an '06 Honda 400EX fit an '02 frame?

2. Can an upper "A" arm from an '07 ber paired with a lower "A" arm from an '04 without modification?

2A. Can shocks from an '06 mate with a mix-and-matched (see #2) upper and lower "A" arm assembly?

3. Will items 2 and 2A mate with item 1?

Tried to find same-year parts but haven't had much luck. I realize these are specific questions but any advice or resources is appreciated!

All frame and a-arm and shock parts should be exchangeable on the 400ex.

Somewhere a few years back on one of these Honda forums there was an explanation from a one time Honda exec. that explained how to interpret Honda part #'s. By knowing how to do this, it makes it real easy to see what will fit what from any year to any other year.
He showed an example an it was real easy to do, but its been so long I don't remember it now. Maybe google can help find it........

There are exploded parts list available on-line, and at any dealership. Just check to see if the part numbers match from the different years....

Thats not how their numbering system works. You would hafta see it explained to understand exactly how an why they did it that way. Parts can be interchanged an not have the same #'s
