Default Sportsman Running Hot?????????

I have a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 Twin and I am having a problem with it showing HOT!!! There are no signs that it is really running hot. I have checked the fan and works great, removed the radiator that was very dirty and cleaned it 100% with coil cleaner, replaced the coolant, replaced the themistor, inspected the water pump impeller, replaced the radiator cap. I am lost as to what is causing it to show hot. I can run it at around 3000-3500 RPM and after about 15 minutes it will cycle flashing HOT 3 times and then ok for another 10 to 15 minutes. I can run it hard 5000-6000 RPM for extended periods and have no trouble with flashing hot, until I get to the lower RMP's. There is never anymore or any less coolant in the recovery tank. It kind of seems as if the water pump impeller may be worn and just looking at it I can't tell. Any suggestions would be a huge help!!!

I had the same problem on my '05 700, it ended up being thr ECM which was recalled twice already and it was the defective ECM's on 2 '05 500 also. Flashes hot and or fan stay's on.

I bought this atv not long ago and I called a dealer who looked up my VIN number and said the ECM had already been replaced under the recall.

I had the first one replaced last spring and had the second one replaced last month, there is an extended recall for the first one replaced. Go to polaris's website and print out the extended recall and tell your dealer.

I had a problem with my 800 overheating. I installed the temperature gauge kit from quadovator. Now i know for sure if I am actually over heating or if the ECM is messed up. Good investment.

chances are the emc is bad again. caper went thru 3 of them onhis 450. if the fans working and its not spewing antifreeze out chances are its not overheating. imo.

Is there anyway to test the ECM? Is there anyone that makes a better one than Polaris? Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Has to have a good charged battery for fan to operate properly. Since ecm controls charging and fan motor could be a catch 22! at low rpms. Check charging at just above idle, should be 14-14.5 volts on average. If ecm is the problem(probably is if still have the chinese one) could be voltage drop at low rpms affecting fan and charging battery also. JUST a thought? ANYWAY have it replaced with American made ecm! Polaris still warranting it,Just get on the list! I replaced 3 today, finally trickling in a little faster now!

I have a 2005 700 twin efi. It keeps over heating on me also. I changed the radiator cap and took it in to the dealer who changed out the thermistor. Took it out on the trail, and the same damn thing happened. Overheats and spews out coolant. The fan will start to run at full speed, at first. then it kind of retards it's operation. stuttering to start and then only running a partial speed if it comes on at all. Do one of the two relays control this or would it be the ECM..Help!!!... I am getting frustrated with the thing. Thank you
