Default Polaris Trail Boss

Folks this may seem like a silly question but I need to know.

When I was riding my 1986 trail boss I got hung up a little. When looking back at the tires to see what was hanging me up, I noticed that the left wheel was the only wheel turning (spinning). there didn't seem to be anything happening with the right?

Is this normal? if not what do I need to do to fix it.

I took a look at the parts list and can see that it could be a couple of things. Striped shaft or hub or probable both??

Am I right in saying that???
