I am getting an Eddlebrock carb for my 440 ex and it says you need to run a minimum of 100 octane gasoline. I was woundering if you can get this at a normal gas station or where you get 100 octane gas. Thank you for any information.

The highest octane pump gas around here is 93. So, if I needed 100, I would have to get some race gas and mix it go get 100....hopefully. Running straight race gas would run up a lot of expense...

What does the carb have to do with octane? Generally compression is the main reason you need to use specific octane.

100 Octane with just a carb does not sound rite at all. Where did you read that statement?

So you are adding the higher compression pistons or having your head milled or something of that nature? Then that makes sence.
Going from a pump gas bike to a race fuel bike is a big step. It is allot more to go riding and it is a pain in the butt making special trips just to pick up high dollar gas so make sure that you want to do that befor making the choice.
In my Banshee I ran aviation fuel that I picked up at the local airport and it was perfect and allot cheaper than race fuel and it is 100 octane.

Check your local automotive performance parts dealers, or race teams at the local drag way to see where they get their race gas, then when you find a source they should be able to tell you at what ratio to mix race gas with pump gas to get 100 octane.

If your 440 kit retains the stock compression ratio I cant see you needing that high an octane rating, but if you've milled the head or installed a high compression piston then you will need to run the right gas to prevent engine damage.

I get 100 octane Race gas from my Union 76 Dealer. At $6.75 a gallon it seems like a deal.

Like some of the others who posted I dont understand a carb needing 100 octane.
