Default New owner! 2000 Sportsman 500

Hey everyone. I just joined because I picked up my first ATV today, and am sure I'll have plenty of questions.

The one I've got came with a windshield, plow, winch, rack extenders, cargo box, and a gun case.

I got it mainly for plowing the driveway this winter, hauling wood, and just tooling around on the property.

What I'm looking for now, are any online articles/webpages dedicated to my ATV.

Thanks for any help

Welcome to the forum! You found one websight (this one) that will help you a whole bunch as there is alot of Polaris owners here (including myself). Congrats on the new buy. The 500 is one the the biggest staples in the Polaris lineup. If you take care of it it will run longer than you probobly ever want it to.

Thanks. I'm already planning what I want to get for it. I'm thinking a skidplate, snorkel, and a ****** block for starters.

Are there any technical websites that offer pictures or articles on the motor?

well if your going to snorkel it then that means your going to treat it like a boat so dont suprised if you have to do alot more maintence and start wearing out parts as well. imo.

Yep I'd love to have a quad I can treat as a boat I realize that means switching to waterproof greases, sealing the electrical components and airbox, extending the breather tubes, more frequent fluid changes, and probably a little more. It'll be my wintertime project

Right now I'm looking for the technical data on my specific drivetrain. Maintenance schedules, how-to writeups, fluid recommendations, gaining power or reliability, and any other tips and tricks that would help out.

Thanks
