Default 2004 Rancher 400 AT

the piston hit valves, and broke connecting rod. have to replace crankshaft is it something I can do at home or would it be best to have Honda dealer do it?
and any idea on what it would cost to have dealer replace crankshaft if I take engine out and just bring bottom end to them. I am ok on the top end have done before.
Thanks for any help

Get a service manual and see if you are up to it.....

I wonder if it could have also damaged the case...

Anyway, a manual is a good idea. Talking to the dealer would be another...

I have service manual for my 03 350 rancher and was reading that. is there any special tools needed, for bottom end? my 350 book says you need a press to remove crank is that right?

I'm not sure if it damaged case or not the guy said his kid was riding when I am assuming the cam chain broke

You need a puller to remove the centrifugal clutch and a puller/installer with adapter to install the crank bearings. Special tools
