I got my bearings out of the rear of my 2002 polaris sportsman ho 500 and there is a groove in the bearing does the groove go to the outside or the inside or does it matter.I should have taken note as to which way it went when I removed it.If some body could let me know it would be great.

 

does not matter...........but was there a groove on the old one?,.... some aftermarket bearings may be desinged for other uses where the groove may hold a snap ring

 

The old one has a ring on it and so does the new one I'd like to put it back together so I can take it out for a ride.I should have taken note as to which way the old one came out my mistake should have been more aware.I anyone has an idea on which way it should go let me know.

 

Does anyone know which way the bearing should go or does it matter.

 

I think I'll put the groove on the inside.
