I recently bought a polaris xplorer 300 and was told that the previous owner had lost the registration card and I would have to file for a replacement. No problem axcept he doesn't remember the exact year of the machine. I have looked the whole machine over and the only thing I can find is a sticker on the side of the engine with a serial number and a model number. I called polaris customer service and was told that the serial number I had was neither a serial number for the atv nor the engine. I'm stuck. I can't register it without the year and the vin. It needs a new battery and ignition too and I can't get those either. How do I find out what year it is? Thanks.

 

In addition to the sticker the VIN should be etched into the frame somewhere. IIRC it is usually up front, on one of the lower tubes/bars. Look at the frame behind the front tires. Might be hard to read/find. Feel for it and look close. May need to sand it down to read it.
