runs up to 25 mph like it is under a load. Give it to much gas and it back fires through the carb. this atv is only used on the farm, does a lot of pulling jobs

Check the secondary clutch buttons before any thing

 

have you checked the simple things like air filter and air box? Have you made ANY mods to it at all?

its got a new plug, air cleaner, oil and filter. The only thing i did not check was for water in the gas and i am going to do that right now.

 

your quad has two clutches on it. its in the black housing right by your left foot. primary (drive) clutch in connected to the motor and the secondary (driven) clutch is connected to the gear box.

 

thanks EGGENZ7, what would i be looking for when i check them, can a clutch make the engine get louder and back fire thought the carb.

 

I am having the same sort of problem with my500 magnum. It starts, idles, and runs slow great but when I try to go faster it bogs down and backfires.

 

IF backfiring through carb and no power,check cam for exhaust lobe damage or wear.OR could just need carb work?
