Is the extended warranty worth $440? I don't intend to ride the s*$#t out of it but who plans to crash anyway? I rarely buy extened warrantys on anything I buy, it's always easier and faster to fix it myself. Looking for opinions.

Thx - great forum!

I talked my dealer down to $100.00 for my extended warranty. Try it!

I have the warranty on my 400ex and it has helped me out a lot. i also think it depends on your dealer. Like with mine i break everything and there's no questions asked

Now call me foolish, but does adding aftermarket parts(pipe, airbox) void out a warranty? If it does, I wouldn't get the extended warranty, unless you plan on leaving your quad stock, but who does that?

I bought the extended warranty on my 300ex. I paid the extra $400 and the only thing that happened to my bike in the three years I owned it was the reverse lever broke. Most warranties only cover manufacturer defects in the bike. They are not going to cover it if you run it into a tree. I also want to add a situation that happened to a co-worker of mine. He just bought a 2001 400ex and the first time out riding his clutch went out. Come to find out the factory forgot to tighten the nut that holds in the clutch basket. He brought it back to the dealership and they replaced everything that was damaged without question. I guess what I am getting at is if the bike is going to have some kind of major problem it should show up in the first couple of times that you ride it. Honda gives you a 6 month factory warranty when you buy the bike. I would pass and did pass on the extended warranty on the 400. Also, to the rest of the readers, you do not void out the warranty by bolting on aftermarket pipes and filters, etc. The only way you will void out the warranty is if you go internal and make changes.
