Default 250es big red gearshift pedal stickage

The gearshift pedal on the 250es big red i just picked up sticks down on downshifts sometimes. When it does this it's like it's in neutral until it pops up or i move it with my foot. Am I just hitting it too hard? Sometimes when i barely tap it down it works fine. I'm gonna go though it 2maro and change all the fluids. Any help would be great.

Thanks

A couple of ideas.
1st. -- Make sure the shifter is tight on the shift shaft and the splines aren't stripped.
2nd. -- I just fixed this on a 250sx(same thing). I had to open the outer case cover on the electrical side. What I found was that the pivot piece on the shift shaft was broken. This caused the shifter to stick and not function at times. It's only a $10.00 part, and it's still available.
Hope this helps....

Also check your shift lever to make sure its not bent in and catching on the engine case. I had this happen to me.
