Sounds like you may have also got some water in the fuel system. That would explain the spit, sputter, backfire, and stall. It doesn't sound like you have much water in it, so instead of draining the system, just try some type of heet to the fuel. Maybe also change the fuel filter and make sure the air filter is dry and clean.
As far as the battery, it may just be time for a new one. Try putting it on the charger on it overnight and see what happens. You can also take the battery out and bring it someplace to be tested. Most places will test it for free.
Good luck

well i went and changed the filters and everything still having the same problem is there any reason the battery wouldnt charge with the bike running i used to have a 4 speaker sound system and it would run the battery dead but charge it right back up as soon as i started it just curious i feel like there might be something wrong with the cdi or something also why would turning the lights on or hitting the brakes make it stall even at high rpm

you might have a ecm issue not letting it charge. these new bike need a battery charge to keep it running and running good. if the charge is below 12 volts it will make the bike run like crap and even stall. just an idea.

hello i was trying to find a solution to my problem but i dont know where to start my polaris 500 EFI i was plowing snow with it and the battery light was blinking i just replaced the battery and had it charged and pre filled and i also reaplaced the starter and it was running fine for a week now and then today when i used the winch the atv shut off and said check engine then i tried to start it and it started slow but started and tried the lights and then they shut the atv off is there something that chargers the battery cause the battery is not getting a charge back to keep it running i herd of some kind of in line fuse or something and this one guy said about an alternator
Does any one know what i should do or think what is wrong

Polaris 500 efi
Your problem is common, the charging system can't keep up with the constant use of the winch. It becomes even worse if you are plowing at night with the lights on. When you are done plowing, be sure to hook up a trickle charger.
