2001 Sportsman 400
#1
Howdy folks..not a typical Polaris forum visitor, personally being a Yamaha guy, but thats not why I am here. Family and myself went riding out to the Badlands today in Attica, IN; and when we got back home and were headed to the wash rack we lost a yellow Sportsman 400 off the back of the trailer. To add insult to injury, upon discovering this (it was dark, I wasn't in the vehicle this happened to, etc etc) when we found where it had came off (broken off Badlands flag, piece of the front rack, and some property damage) someone had decided to help themselves to the quad.
This occurred outside of Mooresville, IN on Paddock Rd just north of Landersdale Road at approximately 7pm on 11/15/2008. I am just asking that if any of you see a 2001 Yellow Polaris Sportsman 400 that you may think fits the bill with damage or being parted out anytime in the near future, please contact me via PM, email, or call me at 317-217-0082.
Some things to look for:
27" SwampLite tires on Chrome rims--tires were like new
Yellow Polaris Handguards and grips
Front rack broken partially, and broken off flag on rear rack
There was no key in it...so they will probably bypass the ignition
Full black wraparound rear rack bag
Double tube rear bumper with wraparound ends
Front winch mount--with no winch, that was tonight's project..
Hole burnt in the right side engine cover plastics from an exhaust bolt
If you have any reason to believe you know the whereabouts of this quad or any information please contact me, there is a reward for tips that lead to the recovery of the bike. PM, email or call at 317-217-0082.
Thank you all a bunch, and enjoy your next trip out!

Hey your in indiana man!I'm up by South Bend!Look on ebay for any parts being posted there in the past couple days. Also check around area craigslists, and if you want to go further send letters to local dealers with the vin number of the quad so they know to tell you if it comes into be serviced, and as always file a police report.Good luck!

Hey man, thanks for the tips, we have already been searching eBay and a big time local area classifieds site. We are going to contact all the dealers around Monday (or Tuesday, since most aren't open Mon). We already filed a police report, etc etc, and fortunately, for what its worth it is a very identifiable quad, and there really aren't many of those yellow 400's around here. What sucks is we already know we most likely will never find it or hear of it again, though. Quad thefts are almost always a complete loss, even if ever recovered. You ever ride down in central or southern Indiana? What kind of areas do you have up north?

Up north there isn't alot of trail systems if any at all.About ten miles south of me we have a little farm town that has an old train system running through it from back in the 1800s and it is sort of like a 3 to 4 mile straight line trail, and we also ride the secondary roads around the town old dirt ones where there are no houses for miles, but riding down south no I haven't yet.
