Default klf 220 wiring diagram help needed

i just bought a 92 bayou klf 220 that runs and looks like new.BUTthe starter doesnt engage unless i applie direct power to it. it seems the wiring is hacked up on it.from the positive post the cable goes to selonoid and the other side of it goes to ground. the negitive side othe the battery goes to the starter.the relay just buzzes when trying to crank it. good thing the pull starter works.i believe the wires are crossed.if i get the starter to ever work i will still need to repair something internally in the engine because when hot wired it the starter spins but nothing happens. any wire diagrams that could be sent would greatly apprieciated

More than likley, it is the poor ground wire (blk) connection from starter relay to the frame if the wiring harnes on your quad is in orignanl condition.
If my memory serves correctly, it is on the LEFT side as you are sitting on the bike. I think it is either 8 or 10 mm head bolt you have to remove to disconnect the wire lead from the frame. Then, sand off paint/corrosion from the frame and reconnect.

all sounds good about the ground connection but when the selonoid is engaged woulded that be a direct short . or is the starter operated on a ground rather than a hot wire to complete the circuit??
