Took my 2001 Explore 4x4 (250 cc) Headlight apart and went to Auto Zone. They are are local auto parts store. Any way the light in the explore is a 3 pole bulb and if you take it out we found a halogin light that fits right in and no modification is needed to change. The light is far brighter and is a 60/50 watt bulb. The old bulb is a 60/60 watt. The halagin is at least 3 times brighter and does not take any more juice to run it. There were 3 different bulbs that we could choose from. One was $6.99 and was a standard halogin. The next was a Extra bright halogin at $10.99 and the last one was called a cool blue it was $12.99 and is the brightest and is kind of blue tent. No mods were needed and you can change it in minutes.

Good Luck Bulb # 9003

I am just wondering something, I have a headlight that I ordered from dennis kirk for my atv, but diddnt fit, its a gold/purple tinted 60/55w halogen, has 3 prongs on the end you plug in, have a picture of it if you would like, is this the same type of bulb that polaris wheelers use?? Does anybody know? Its the same one pictured in the dennis kirk atv catalog except 60/55w.

The bulb is metal based (not plastic like some) with 3 tabs. The connection is 3 prongs like 3 sides of a box.

Great info!!! I wanted a brighter headlight since I got the thing. I don't see why they don't put REAL lights on these things from the factory.
I bet if I took in a bulb from the grille lights, they could match up a Halogen bulb, too.
