timberwolf pinion gear removal

timberwolf pinion gear removal
I have a 97 2wd timberwolf. I am going through the rear differential,new bearings and seals. Does anyone know the procedure for removing the pinion gear. There seems to be some type of retainer on the drive shaft end of the pinion gear, but I am not sure how to remove it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
