Sythetic Winch Rope & Plowing
#1
Hey guys. I posted this in the Utility section, but this is the one I read every day so I'll ask here too.
Is anyone using their synthetic winch rope with their plow? I've been switching back to my steel cable and roller fairlead every winter, but I'm sick of repairing the cable every other storm. The rope is SO much nicer to use, I was wondering if it held up any better than the cable when plowing. Also, does anyone know where I could buy a shorter length of rope to use with my plow. The place I got my rope from (and every other place I've seen that sells it) only sells 50' lengths. Figured I could just put on a 15' piece for plowing. Thanks.

I have a short piece I use for plowing....I tried using the long 50' but from the constant in and out, the rope starts to get "sucked" in towards the middle of the spool....I have a section of masterpull but here's a couple others....

Two sheet metal screws, It binds itself when it gets wrapped onto the drum.
I think I have a picture on my page.

The reason for the hawse is that the rope won't get snagged in the corners of the rollers when pulling.....But seeing when plowing it's only pulling up and down I just use the roller...I do like the idea of the hawse fairlead when not plowing though......It's a very smoothe polished surface for the rope to glide across.

On Warn's website (atv section-plow options) they offer the rope for your winch. Remove your cable and install their short rope instead.
I'm sure you can make your own though.
