BTW, since I moved-up from the 2,500lb to the 3,000lb Warn winches, I have not had any problems with the cable fraying. Maybe the 3K winch uses a different cable, I don't know.

Just remember when raising the blade, you don't have to lift it all the way up until it bottoms-out the winch. That puts WAY too much strain on the cable, isn't necessary, and will reduce cable life. Just raise the blade a reasonable amount!

hey MT. Ya, I'm ordering the 12 footer with the thimble in it. I'm gonna leave my hawse fairlead on and see how it works out. I have the Glacier II plow and am also in the process of reinforcing the frame as it got bent up like a pretzel during last year's normal plowing. What a POS design! I hammered my old Glacier I set up for 3 years without a problem. The Glacier II frame is not even shown on the Pure Polaris website now, I wonder if they stopped selling it because it's such a piece of junk?

I was starting to think that I was the only one having trouble with the POS Glacier 2 mounting plate! LOL!!

I did see on Popo's website that it's out of stock.(wonder why?!!LOL!)

Hopefully it's being re-designed- maybe making it a few gauges thicker.

I think a lot of these guys who own the Glacier2 or just bought the Glacier2 are in for a rude awakening when their plates bend and the upper bolts go through their radiator!

Wait for the posts to come right around late Feb early March.

I'm glad that you are having yours re-inforced! Smart man!

My friends Glacier 2 mount bent last year plowing a city drive.
Thats why I went with the American Plow set-up!
I'm running the synthetic rope,I guess I should get a shorter one for plowing.

MT,

Where does the mounting bracket have issues? Is it underneath, or near the two big bolts in the front? Where is the best place to reinforce the mount?

I want to keep an eye on mine. Hopefully, it was just a sub par batch of steel.

The issue is underneath.

The plate flexes downward which tweeks the front assembly rearward thus pressing the 2 bolts up-front rearward into the bottom of the radiator.(read it twice, then look at your ATV, I think it makes sence!LOL!)

It's quite clear to see if the bottom plate is flexing downward because it's no longer flush with the bottom of the ATV.

A guy last March (ish) posted some great pics on how to re-inforce the plate mounted to the ATV. I printed the pics and had mine welded. For some reason I can't find the topic from back then or I would revive it for all to benefit by it. Some really good pics.

Oh well, I hope this has helped you DCT.

Thanks MT,

I'll make sure everything is buttoned up tight, and keep a close eye on it. I'll continue to look for the pics... LOL

I went through 3 mounting plates last winter!! The last time my dealer welded 2 plates together so now it is twice as thick. Only plowed once so far this year but so far so good. I used the glacier 1 for 3 seasons and had no problems with it!

Any pics of what it looks like? Did he just double up the bottom of the plate?

sorry no pics. yes he doubled the bottom plate. It cover the whole flat area. Toward the front where it start to bend upward it is only one plate thick. Hope I answered your question.
