Default Rough Cut vs Finish Mower

So how rough does a rough cut mower cut? I need to cut 2-3 acres during the summer on a normal basis. Every now and then I might need to knock down another couple of acres of pasture. I am not very picky at all about my lawn. Could a rough cut mower be used as a weekly mower or would the quality be so bad that even I would not be happy with it?

Default Rough Cut vs Finish Mower

I have been using my swisher 44" rough cut mower to cut a few acres for several years now. My acreage consists mostly of tall weeds and some grass. I also use it to mow some empty lots I have for sale that have juniper bushes about 2" thick. It does very well at mowing these down. It is my understanding that the finish cut mower is intended for grass only, like your yard. If you have no large diameter growth, then I would say a finish mower would serve you fine.

Yeah I use a Swisher 44" too........ I not only use it to cut tall brush but I use it as a "finish" mower on my yard too...... but my grass is not that fine suburban grass you might see on a "lawn" ....my yard is more like an old hay field with lots of weeds and such so a finish mower would be a waste.
