Default Upgrading to a newer Utility

Hi everyone.... I have been riding my 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 Utility 2 wheel drive for 10 years. It's taken me everywhere. Being time to upgrade I looked at all my options. I landed on a used 2006 Panther 300 4x4. This is a chinese made ATV. The fit and finish is good and most importantly to me, it "feels" solid. It had a digital dash and a winch on it 66 hours and not a scratch.

I bought this for $1000. at that price it's worth the gamble. I am mechanically inclined but looking at what I saved purchasing a comparable japanese or american in the same condition I would have to have major problems to lose on this plus, for what I paid If I had problems and wanted to sell it I probably would be able to recoup most if not all of my money.

any opinions (short of sell it and buy a used (brandX) lol

Hope I can share my experiences on this machine

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The biggest concern I would have is parts availability...

For that price, I suppose it is worth the risk.

They made a 350 Moto4 ? I had the 86 250 Moto4. I sold my 89 350 4x4 big bear with a zillion miles on it for $2000 Canadian so I guess $1000 for a new 300 4x4 is worth it.

I hear with the china bikes its good to lock tight every thing possible, nuts tend to back off at real inconvenient times.

Well the seller scammed me, sold the bike before I got there and AFTER I paid a deposit on ebay. In person I guess I intimidated him enough while following him into his house and standing over him while he refunded my deposit via paypal. Oh well I shopped for the past few days and bought an older Arctic Cat Bearcat 454.

The Moto 4 350 I have is basically a 4x2 big bear

Thanks

Well, to me, seems like you lucked out. I would be scared as hell to buy a chinese atv. Like JeffinTD said, parts or any kind of support is hard to come by. I think you did a lot better by picking up the Cat. Congrats!
