when you are in 4x4 try pushing and holding (my foot worked good) the gearshift fowarde and see if 4x4 works or not thear is a switch in the shifter that wares out

AWD light must work to have AWD,it tell you the circuit is not completed somewhere,be it a bad switch or power not getting to hubs some way. Even if the AWD bulb just burns out it will stop power from getting to hubs.

i was thinking the bulb might be blowed. the gear shifter has nothing to do with the 4x4 works as i said my front sprocket is turning will check light i know i have no power to the switch at all do you know witch one of the four wires needs to be hot? i have a grey brown yellow and grwy/white wire

The shifter does effect the 4wd. The switch inside the gear selector box tells the machine electronically that it is in gear. If that switch is bad or not fuctioning the 4wd will not engage. The chains, axles, etc turn whenever the rear wheels are turning, 4wd or not.
The 4wd is engaged electronically in the hubs. Does the gear indicator lights coincide with what gear it's in? If you manually push forward on the gear selector with the 4wd button pushed, does the 4wd light come on? If it does the switch is probably bad. If it doesn't you will need to determine why.
