Default 25's on my newer 350 Wolverine?

My 2wd 350 Wolvy came with 23's that barely measure 22" mounted. I pass through a bit of mud on the trails and would like a better tire, but in order to get a decent selection I need to go to 25's (rims are 12"). From what I can tell, my Wolvy is really a 350 Bruin/Grizzly and they come with 25's stock. I understand that I will probably feel a power loss, but will it hurt anything or cause anything to wear prematurely? I'm a weekend trail rider with very little time to wrench, so reliability is priority number one.

Thanks, Dave

25" tires on the old shift tranny Wolverine would take power, so I imagine using them on a belt drive quad will pull even more, if you stick to lighter tires, like Mudlites, or something similar, it will help, but you will definately need to do a few mods. A good aftermarket clutch kit, meant for bigger tires, a pipe and rejetting, and you should have most if not all the spunk back you had with the stock tires. Pipe and filter/jetting is a simple one, but a clutch kit will require a bit of wrenching, if you are not comfortable with that, find a mechanic friend, or have a shop do it. These mods will not affect the basic engine reliability, and allow you to enjoy your bigger tires.

I don't mind wrenching, but I just don't have the time anymore. I already have a garage full of Jeep mods, so I was trying to keep my hands off the quad until the Jeep is done. Thanks for the advice. I may just live with the power loss until I have time for some modding, as long as I'm not hurting anything.

Maybe you should look at the Wolverine 450's tires, they are 23 inches also, but they are more agresive and have kind of squared form that helps the ride handling if you like to drive fast around corners.

I think they are Maxxis lynx or something like that.

The 450's tires are very similar to what I have, but they are radial and mine are bias. The tread pattern is OK, but I go through some slick mud and need something else. Right now I've got Zillas in mind , they seem to be quite lightweight for a mud/trail tire.
