Default 03 Sportsman 700 woes

Hi everyone
I've had this problem for several months now & I've tried several suggestions from the forums on this site(as a guest) with no success. A fabulous site with many solutions.
Here is my problem:
When I nip the throtle more than half way the carb starts spitting gas & the engine bogs out & roars louder in the filter box, and shoots a spray of gas into the air filter & box, plus I think gas is going into the engine.
I have changed the air filter.
I have put a new float in the carb
I adjusted the clip on the stem in the carb 1 up & then 1 down & this made no difference.
Replaced the Rubber part between the engine & the carburetor which was badly cracked.
Had the manifold welded because it was cracked.
All this made no difference.
Got all these ideas here at these forums, so many thanx.
What else can I try?? Thanx in advance.

What size of main jet do you have in it?

The original was not tampered with. So whatever size it came with. I'm not up to date on that.

It sounds like your dumping too much gas into it. main jet probably.

I had a problem with mine a while back. I borrowed it out to my father inlaw and told him to make sure that the gas was turned off while it was on the trailer. Well he didnt turn the gas off and when he got up north to use it, it would not run. I think he had pulled the top of the carb off to see if something was screwed up but didnt get hte needle back in the hole and the spring was coiled up under the cover. When he brought it back the crank case was full of gas from not having turned the gas off so changing the oil and filter was the first thing I did. It took me a while to find the needle and spring problem.
My suggestion is check the oil for gas dilution, check the vent lines on the carb make sure that they are not plugged.
Make sure that the exhaust is not plugged with carbon. Some times the muffler becomes plugged.
