Pro-flow slipping off bracket
#1
I got a Pro-design air filter and I am having problems with it. It seems that the clamp wont hold the filter on, it keeps slipping out when I tighten it up. Has anyone else had this problem? I had to cover the front of the filter with a rag for fear that the clamp wouldn't hold? Any pointers or help would be appreciated!!

I had the same problem on my pro filter setup.
I tried to keep the clamp tight, but as I found out, the bottom of the rubber filter lip was sqeezing out from under the clamp.
I was afraid to keep the clamp looser for fear it would come off while I was riding.
I think I found the cure.
I took the filter clamp off. I drilled 2 ,1/16 " holes through the bottom of the clamp, about 1 " apart.
I drilled the same holes into the bottom rubber lip of the air filter. With the filter sitting on my bench, rubber side up, I placed the clamp back on the rubber part off the filter. From the inside lip of the filter, I reached in and installed two 1/16" dia. by 3/16" long pop rivets through the holes. This keeps the bottom part of the clamp fastened to the rubber on the filter.
Works great, now when I put the filter on, the rubber can't slip out from under the clamp. I have checked twice to make sure I have no dust leaks, no problem.
Plus now, I don't have to over tighten the clamp.

I was not happy with my Pro Fliter either. Tom Burba at Pro Design said to send it back and he would send me another one. He said a few got machined incorrectly or something like that. Anyway, he's a good guy and I got the new one the next day. Seems to be fine now.
