Default Stupid pins on 400ex (maybe others?) plastics

Hi. I am getting new plastics, looking at carb, etc. and I need to take my front plastics off. There is just one problem: I can't get the stupid pins off! I'm starting to get very frustrated to the point of just breaking the stupid little black pins right off. There is probably some simple way to take them off, but I don't have the slightest idea. Any diagrams, videos, or simple explanations will be greatly appreciated to get the stupid things off! Thanks, Burke

If You are talking about the 2 piece pins like Honda has used for years I use sidecutter pliers to get under the head and pull them up. The outter piece will pull out after You pull the pin up or completly out. Hope this is what You are talking about.

I generally don't have any problem getting the center part pulled back...

I think I saw somewhere that there is a special pliars made for pulling them, but I've never found the need.

I just pry the center pin up with a thin screw driver, and once it's up the holder pops right out....
