Is it worth it???
My 250R has been out of commission for about 2 or 3 years now...I took the motor to a local mechanic to check it out because the last time it worked I think it seized. So I took it apart and took it to him and he says the stator needs replacement, the top end needs a rebuild, and possibly rebuild the bottom end. Im looking at about 300-450 in parts for the rebuild plus labor. Not to mention that theres a few bolts missing here and there that I would have to track down. On top of that its been sitting outside so the axle is rusted and the rear brake caliper needs replacement, as do all four tires. Is it worth is to fix it or would it be best to just buy another 250R? What are some going rates for 250R's now? What are some good sites for parts? Ive been out of the quad scene for a while now and need some refreshing to see if I can bring the cost of bringing it to life down.

The R's are hard to come by. If you are wanting an 250R and not considering one of the 450's I would rebuild it. That way you know when your done you know you have a solid rebuilt machine. Otherwise you run the risk of buying another used one and having to do the same thing to it in 6 months.

Yea I considered the 450s, I like the Honda the best but dont want to spend the cash on sumthing I know my R will kill (once running). But then on the other hand I want something reliable and that is not my R. maybe in stock trim it will last a while but they way I have it modded now its fast and unreliable. I dont know Im still debating, i found a used R for $1500, kind of considering buying that to have spare parts..

Sounds like you'll be spending the money either way you go. If you want something reliable than take a second look at a the 450's. If you looking for at 450R's than find one piped with a cam. It makes a world of difference on the 450R.
Like you said don't really matter how awesome that 250R is. If it's sitting in the shop my little cuz can smoke it on his blaster.
