ok i finally got it together today. It turns over now but it wont start. i was playing with the kill switch and it started to actually start then just kept turning over. What could it be? I know its been sitting for awhile, around 3-4 months. You think it needs the carb cleaned or something else?

you need 3things for engine to start

1. spark
2. compression
3. proper fuel/air mixture

if its turning over nicely you probably have good compression. pull the spark plug, hold it ti the frame and see if it has a nice strong spark when you hit the starter. if the plug is wet then you are flooding the mechine. if the plug checks out, and most likely, dump out the old gas and put in fresh after you clean out the carb.

with how long its been sitting clean the carb well with spray cleaner. hit the jets well and dont forget to spray the slide/butterflyhould well.

I put new gas in it as soon as i got the 300 back together. If you read through my other threads i had to put a new wiring harness, solenoid, clutch cover gasket, and starter on it.

i'll clean the carb tonight and see if im getting any spark.
