2002 Rancher wont shift

2002 Rancher wont shift
I have a 2002 rancher. It is not shifting. Does anyonw have any help for me. The angle sensor has a burnt electrical smell, this also has a change switch, would this be something that has anything to do with the shifting.. I have no idea what a change switch is so I dont know where to go from here.
