Going to buy a new atv polaris 800 or kawasaki 750i
#1
I am looking at the new 2009 Polaris 800 or the 2008 Kawasaki brute force 750i. I see that the kaw is lighter than the polaris by 110 LBS and the polaris has around 770cc and the kaw has 749cc. So i would think the the kaw would be faster. Which one is the best in the winter for ice fishing and the most dependable or long lasting.

They both look like great bikes... I've played w/ the kawi 750i and it's a beast... I don't think I could ever recommend a polaris to anyone... I'm sorry to all of you popo owners... I just know waaay too many people that have had problems with them.
The 800's are awesome looking, but it just comes down to fear of reliability.
I don't feel comfortable recommending it to someone else, if I wouldn't buy one myself.
good luck with your choice...

Where we ride the majority of quads are PoPos. We have 1200 trouble free miles on our quads. They've been great for us at least. I looked at both when I was buying the X2. The Polaris 800 is no slouch. If I remember right they are about even speed-wise. Both have good ground clearance. Polaris ride is nicer. It's like riding a couch. (I have a bad disk in my back and can ride all day). I like the looks of the Brute better. Nice and mean looking. Heavier quad=better traction. The Polaris has a nice front storage box under the front rack. I have about 20 different items that I can just leave in the box. It's one of the main reasons I bought it. If you can, take both for a ride and see what you like. Both offer full 4wd. Polaris is a switch and engages in less than 1/5th of a turn of the rear wheels. It's seamless and not really noticeable. Brute has a lever on the left handle that you have to pull to get full 4wd. It works great from what I've heard, but for me, I didn't care for it. Both great quads. Hard to go wrong.
