Default warning sticker removal

I have read alot about this on old threads.
My problem is the leftover glue (I think)
I removed the large stickers on the front fender tonight. With a hair dryer the stickers came off quick about 2 min. It left behind the thick adhesive. I let the goo gone soak and worked the glue off using fresh towels on each pass. The bulk of the adhesive came off easy. I have flourecent HO lighting in the garage to show the mess left behind. It looks horrible, after 2hr and 2 rolls of shop towels later, still looks like crap. The panels I worked on look like they sat in the sun for 10 years. Completely took away the shine and left a oxidation looking mess.

Anybody experienced this?
Is there something else that will help?
Thanks

There's always coal oil.

Does anyone still call it that?

You may have damaged or partially removed the clear coating from the paint with all that goo gone....I used the hair dryer method and slowly peeled them off using a little bit of lighter fluid to clean up and it looks fine.

I've used a product called "oops" in the past with great results to remove residue...It's not really gonna help you now but for future reference it might come in handy...

I've used 3M Adhesive Remover (safe for automotive finishes) to clean adhesive off of cars. You just rinse the paint with water afterwards.

You could also try Griots Garage Adhesive Remover.

x2 on oops, I've used it in an aerosol can,and I have only been able to find it in quart jugs, but it still works

I hate to tell you, but I'd say you ruined your fender

I agree with manatarms....i use 3m adhesive remover to remove residue from all my warning stickers. it sux that some of the stickers appear to be clear coated in the fender ie....cannot be removed.
