warning sticker removal

You are right. With the heat gun, the sticker started getting soft, but so did the plastic uder it! When I tried to pull it off, some of the blue plastic from the fender came with it. Plan B, cover it up with state registeration sticker, Mark Twain National Park permit sticker, Reynolds county ATV permit sticker. I just need to find more places to ride that require permits and stickers to cover the whole finder!

I took the stickers off the 850 last night..as I ahve said before the key is just the right amount of heat and being patient as you remove the sticker/decal...pull it slowly giving the adhesive time to release. If you get the heat just right the adhesive will come off with the sticker..get it too hot(a heat gun tends to be too hot, blowdryer actually works better) and the adhesive stays on the paint..too cool and the sticker tends to tear easily..do it just right and the sticker will come off in nearly 1 piece and leave little to no adhesive..any remaining adhesive can be softened with Googegone, rub it in by hand, not with a rag,let it sit a minute and then wipe with alcohol and a cloth..I then follow that by washing it down good with water or a spray detailer and wiping it dry to remove all the googone..
As for the ones that "won't come off"..they will..the ones on the XP's left rear fender are those type..they are kind of countersunk into the paint for some reason..but they come off and do no damage to the paint..but you can see a low area where they were..but it is clear coated and barely noticable..

If they came off the XP, they HAVE to come off the Sportsman! I'll try again. Maybe if I stipel the stickers a little to let some goof off or gogone under them it will help. Thanks for the encouragement to try again. I wasn't happy with just covering them up with permit stickers. I don't like them either, but at least some of the money I pay for them is supposed to go to maintaining and improving the trails.

Having been from an autobody background,a perfect solution for the adhesive removal is a cleaner readily available from any autobody parts/paint supply store. There are many different brands, all do the same funtion.PPg dx330,dx440,BASF pre kleano 800, pre kleano 801 just to mention a few. It's generic name is prepaint wash or wax & silicon/grease remover.let soak for only a few seconds followed by wiping with a clean rag flipping to a clean non sticky side every wipe.(DO NOT use paper towel on plastic that is molded in a color. They are real microscopically abrasive and will scratch your plastic.

The 07ish sportsman decals can't all be removed.A few of them are molded directly into the urethane thermoset plastic. If you can't feel an distinct edge,it won't be a decal. All xp warnings are decals,as a result, are removable.

That makes sense, I assume you are talking about the non-painted machines?
