Check engine on 09 800R XT Max
#1
Well i was plowing my driveway earlier today with my Outy 800R XT Max, fitted with Tatoo 4s track kit, and about 1hr in the job i noticed a light was flashing, the display read "Check engine - Limp Home Mode". So i shut it off right away, tried calling the dealer but they are closed, so went back outside, checked the oil levels, fine, tried starting it again, started fine, and the light was gone, put it in gear, no light, drove 10-15 feet, no light. Now with the tracks i bank my snow up like a little hill and one pretty steep, so my guess was that the oil rushed to the one cylinder and a sensor noticed that oil was low on the other side, so "check engine"
I sure hope this was what happened, what do you guys think??

alot of people have posted this issue on another Can-am forum.
It happens often when using the winch alot causing battery drain, especialy when plowing due to how often the winch is used at low Rpm. Shut down and restart the message will go away. Make sure you let the battery recover after each plowing event by simply running it without winching or hook up the charger.
Good luck

i spoke to my local dealer and they told me that the efi requires 11.7 volts constant. when you drop below that, the limp home mode-check engine light comes on. this can happen when you are using the winch. they also told me that was to be fixed in the 09's. i have an 08 650xt max and have had the same message when using the winch. you might try a little throttle when operating the winch. i hope this helps.
