What would you upgrade on a Jet 150
#1
I bought a Jet 150 a year ago. I have never given a review on it as I wanted it to get some use first.
Now I have looked at lots and I mean lots of 150 quads like the Jet. So far to date I think the Jet looks to be the best bet for what you get. I have found others though with nicer modern plastic (fenders and such) but then it will have a cheap rear swing arm and drum brakes up front. Or it will have cool headlights and the old style reverse in the rear axle. Or it will have kick start but then it has them poorer old style front control arms where the ball joints are pressed in and a light duty crappy drive chain etc.
So here are things that might improve the Jet 150
Back up starting system- What do you do if the battery or starter fails out in the bush someplace?
Nicer softer seat- Maybe we got a bad one or something as our's is really hard!!
Updated plastic package- What's on is alright but there are new designs out.
Different tires- Maybe its because we ride in the winter so much but the stock tires are not made for a Northern Climate!
It sits a little high. Maybe the suspention can be lowered a bit, I have to look.
Maybe make a vent tube for the CVT that goes up higher. We haven't had an issue but I notice some are made that way.
Different headlights. I changed mine
Different shocks in the front as its a little bouncy.
Handle Bars -maybe an upgrade alloy set.
Pivot points/rubber - Not sure as our Jet's are still all tight, but thats typically an issue with Mic quads.
We quite like that Engine and CVT system . Its really top knotch so far I'd have to say. I've talked with guys with different makes of 150's and typically they all have good things to say about the powertrain. Plus just google a G6Y engine and you will find an endless supply of reasonably priced parts!
The drive chain on the Jet is heavy duty!! Its like a 520, its bigger then many 250's and 300's I've seen.
The rear swing arm assembly seems to be one of the most durable ones on 150's however we don't jump or anything.
I know some will say if they make upgrades the price will go up which I realize. However one would think an extra 50 bucks in China per quad would translate to a lot more value by the time it gets over here.
We have a 110 atv (first one we bought) also that I paid $800 bucks more than I paid for the Jet 150!!! I won't say what I paid for that damn 110!! I will say thought that back in 2005 up here they wanted $3000 for a 150 quad and they were no where near the quality of the Jet that's out now! Plus I've had to do alot of work to that darn 110 to get it "work". Now its been pretty good other then the stiff supsension it has on the rear.
I also had a baja 90 which was pretty good but it is a small quad compared to the Jet 150.
The jet by far has been the best bang for my buck when it comes to MIC ATV's. If I was do over again I would have never bought that darn 110, and just got the Baja 90 on sale for a starter quad, then moved straight to the '07 Jet 150's for the boys. It would have saved me a lot of time and money!!!
Jet 150- For price vs quality and what you get so far.... we are quite happy with it.

Your Jet 150 looks great with the bigger tires!
Is that the factory front? I like the height of the 150 and wish they where a little higher like yours.
I would like to have more grease zerk points.
Better gas cap which the new onse do I belive.
Better motor mount setup to get rid of the vibrations that cause everything to rattle.
Better Rubber parts (hoses, ect) (check your CDI box it's probably hanging because of the cheap rubber mount they use)
Better Plastic that does not UV fade (like my Blue ATV that is now a shade of Purple)
Better Air Filter set up
I'm sure there is more I just can't think of at the moment. But I agree it's got to be one of the better 150's out there.

I forgot something Outofline......those darn inner tie rod ends. What were they thinking making the shaft so long where it butts up to the steering colum pitman arm!!! I can see that's going to have to be modified as I've had one work loose already. Its just too much torque on it the way its made. It needs to be way shorter.

On the Steering issue, it's the horrible Chinese threading and the fact the hole for the cotter pin does not match up. Place a second washer on the stud and then cotter pin it correctly like I have in this pic. This helped considerably but still needs to be tightened occasionally!

Hey Outofline have you ever had the front control arms off? What is there for bushings?? Mine is starting to squeak when the suspension flexes. Just wondering if they can be taken apart and greased or what.

Ive looked inside the a arms on my 250. Needle bearings.
Im not sure about any of the others....
While I was in China the factory I was at built a few 150's, they had rubber bushings inside.
