Default 05 sp 600 clunking in awd hi and low

My 05 sportsman 600 is clunking in the front axle. Im pretty sure that it is a inner cv(boot is ripped). What do i replace? Whole half axle or can i get away with just a cv repair kit? Wht else should i replace while its apart...u-joints? I have replaced cv joints on cars/trucks but never on a 4-wheeler. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Dan

take the front axle out of the bike

look at the cv joint if you can move it around and it feels rough or loose then pull the cv joint away from the axle by putting it in a vice and pulling it apart and replacing it.

usually when you drive you can hear the cv joint clicking.

you can also have a look at the front bearings in each hub for roughness, also all of the universal joints for play.
