tach won't work

I have a polaris sled tach on a 500 01 scrambler it works as long as you don't hook the ground wire up for the light inside of it, and it works good with the lights on. Thanks, Dewayne

how do I get the light to work in the tach without the ground wire hook up.Thanks,Dewayne
